One victory and a second place for Rémy Audette, one podium for his brother Mathieu in Trois-Rivières!

Trois-Rivières (Québec), August 15, 2010.– The Audette Racing team experienced a very positive weekend at the forty-first edition of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, as Rémy Audette earned a victory and a second place in the Formula Tour 1600 series races while his brother Mathieu Audette captured a second place in Canadian Touring Car after climbing up thirty-three places !

Due to engine troubles during the practice session on Friday, the weekend was not off to a good start for Mathieu Audette. Despite this, the driver of the Dimensions Doors Acura RSX managed to qualify on the second row (fourth position) of the Touring Car start grid, which included 40 registered drivers. The engine that overheated on Friday is the same one we used in Toronto. We didn’t want to take any chances and rebuilt our old engine, which allowed me to make the fourth fastest time during the only qualification session explains Mathieu.

Things were looking up for Saturday’s afternoon race but during the pre-race pace laps, a problem with the on-board computer (ECU) forced Mathieu to enter the pits. By the time the problem was solved, the race had started and two laps had already been run. I started with this insurmountable handicap but I at least wanted to show that our car was still competitive explains the Quebec driver who, regardless of finishing in thirty-forth spot, still set the third fastest lap time of the race.

During the evening, the Audette Racing Team mechanics proceeded to change the car’s transmission in preparation for Sunday’s race. We’ve had a bit of mechanical bad luck as of late but our entire team works really hard, regardless of what happens, to ensure that I have the best car possible. I really have to thank the team because everyone does an exceptional job and that was once again evident in Trois-Rivières confides Mathieu.

In fact, the Audette Racing driver rewarded his team in style during Sunday’s race. Starting the race in thirty-forth position, he climbed back 33 places in thirty minutes of competition to cross the finish line second overall, just behind Ontarian Sasha Anis, who practically lead the event from start to end. It’s an excellent result that could have a big impact on the championship seeing as the series leader (Nick Wittmer) suffered from mechanical issues this weekend and finished far down the leaderboard. We’ll still take each race one at a time but let’s just say that this podium was a fantastic result for us adds Mathieu.

On his end, Rémy Audette had an even better weekend. Entered in the two Formula Tour 1600 races at the wheel of a Van Diemen prepared by Ontarian David Clubine’s Britain West Motorsports team, Rémy earned the pole position on his way to winning Saturday’s race. The following day, he started the race in third spot and finished in second. Rémy Audette comments on his weekend in Trois-Rivières : we were going there to win and achieved our goal. It’s really satisfying. Saturday, I had a great battle with Olivier Bonnet and Xavier Coupal. At times, we were door-to-door but our battle remained respectful. Truly a great race !. He adds : Sunday’s event was a little tougher because starting in third, I knew Olivier had an advantage with his pole position. I was able to pass his father, Michel and finish second. It’s clearly my best ever weekend at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières concludes Rémy.

This season, the Audette Racing Team is entering Mathieu Audette in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and his brother Rémy Audette in a partial open wheel program consisting of Formula Tour 1600 and the American Formula 2000 series. The team’s next outing is set for Mosport (Ontario) on August 28 and 29 where Mathieu will compete in Touring Car. It’s also possible that Rémy will be competing in Formula Tour 1600 that same weekend as part of the NASCAR Montréal itinerary at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

This season, the team benefits from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
