Jocelyn Fecteau collects two "Top 16" in Touring class

Trois-Rivières (Quebec), August 15 2010.- Jocelyn Fecteau and Media Racing Team competed this weekend in both rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship as part of the 41st running of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. With his Toyota Corolla XRS still a constant work in progress, Fecteau nevertheless managed "Top 16" rankings in both races in Touring class.

For the first time this season, Media Racing Team could rely on their new race engine for this important double header, but computer gremlins prevented the team from better results. “The XRS was short on power because we have to learn the ropes of engine management with this new engine in real action”, explained Jocelyn Fecteau. “This translates into being able to put the performance on the track, a matter of sheer power that will enable us to reach Top 10 or even podium positions. But, one thing is sure: we won’t quit until we get there and we are on the way!”

Starting from the seventh row, Jocelyn Fecteau completed the Saturday race in 15th place. Then, for the Sunday morning round, he took 16th. “Results will show we lost one position in the second part of the double header”, he stated, “but in fact the car improved steadily all through the weekend every time we took to the track. I clocked my best lap on Sunday with a one minute-twenty flat while we could barely hit the one minute-twenty-two mark the day before. The car is well balanced and fun to race; we have to tackle that computer hurdle one step at the time. We found overnight an extra 500 rpm and that shaved our lap time accordingly. At this pace, we can expect to be quite competitive in the last programs and a Top 5 finish is within our grasp" says the Mont-St-Grégoire driver.

We know we have to set the bar much higher because our next meet is at Mosport Park in Ontario in two weeks, a place where we need top speed. Mosport is the most demanding facility in terms of speed and road handling. But what we saw in Trois-Rivières this weekend leaves us hoping for better days. Our engine management and computer partners are already working zealously on the black box”, concluded Fecteau.
