FRASERVILLE, ON - ‘Friday the 13th’ is often associated with being unlucky – but Friday, August 13th will see a lucky Kawartha Speedway NAPA Auto Parts ACT Late Model driver walk away with a $ 1,500.00 payday in the year’s second 100 lap invitational event. The extra-distance show is expected to draw a full field of Kawartha regulars and some special guests who’ll be chasing the big money. After starting the season with some less than spectacular efforts, it looks like Peterborough’s Earl Ireland is starting to turn things around.
“We got bounced around a little during the first few weeks and I think there were some nights we may have been in the way,” said Ireland. “Last week, we ran well enough to win the semi-feature and finish 5th in the main event. The cars have changed quite a bit since we last raced regularly, so I still have to get used to how things feel and the different way the car handles.”
Kawartha Speedway will be a busy place over the next few weeks. In addition to the late model 100 lapper, the Hasiuk Trailer and Container Rental Mini Stocks and Better Carpet Thunder Cars will be part of the show. The track will take Friday, August 20th off before hosting a 50 lap thunder car invitational – along with mini stocks, thunder cars and the Ontario Legends – Friday, August 27th.
