CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Returns to Scotia Speedworld for Lucas Oil 100

(Halifax, NS, August 18, 2010) The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to Halifax's Scotia Speedworld for the rescheduled Lucas Oil 100 this August 21. The original Lucas Oil 100 was rained out back in June and is now the Tour's third appearance this season at the 1/3 mile oval across from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport and the ninth for the regional touring series.  Canada's best stock car drivers will start the evening with qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set for 5:10 pm.  Gates open at 3:00pm and tickets are available at the venue on race day.

With the season winding down, the competition is heating up! After the completion of the last three races, we have seen a different driver at the top of the heap each time. Currently sitting there now is previous Tour Champion Shawn Tucker, who is still looking for his first win of the season and eager to get it. If Fredericton's Tucker can do that this Saturday night, he will be the ninth different winner in as many races this summer. It won't be an easy feat if the home track drivers have their say. Enfield's Shawn Turple and Timberlea's Wayne Smith both know their way around Scotia Speedworld. They are also the other two drivers who have sat atop the point standings, they are previous Tour Champions, and they have won races this season. You can also expect to see a charge from Terence Bay's Craig Slaunwhite who is looking for his first win and sits in the top ten.

Another driver that has been closing the gap and is trying to make 2010 a championship season is Brudenell's Jonathan Hicken. Hicken got his first win of his Tour career this season and is looking to be the first driver to win twice this season. Last weekend's winner Donald Chisholm from Antigonish will be looking to ride that momentum through this weekend to repeat. Hicken and Chisholm sit third and fourth in the standings respectively. Prince Edward Island will be sending over their troops to try to take this weekend's trophy back with them as well. Expect to see Crapaud's Kent Vincent and Springvale's Greg Proude battling up front as they too try to take home a second victory in 2010. Chris Hughes from Brackley Beach is looking for his first win and sits just behind Vincent and Proude in the points at eighth. Rounding out the top ten in points, is the leading rookie so far this season, Sydney's Jerome Kehoe. Kehoe has been running consistently in the top ten all season and is looking to perhaps get a feature win in his premiere season.

Fans will also be treated to 50 laps of amazing action from the Maritime League of Legends Tou prior to the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour main feature, the Lucas Oil 100! Tickets for the Lucas Oil 100 are $25.00 for adults, $5.00 for youth, children 7 and under are admitted for free. Pit passes for Saturday's event are $30.00 and restricted to those 16 and over. Tickets are available at the gate on race day.
